Tahkli Spindles by Allen Berry
Tahkli Spindles are a style of support spindle first developed by spinners on the Indian subcontinent thousands of years ago. The thin shaft and carefully balanced whorl allow these spindles to rotate very quickly, making them great spindles for spinning short fibers into fine yarn. Originally used to spin cotton, Tahkli Spindles are perfect for any short, fine fiber such as yak or cashmere.
These Tahkli Spindles by Allen Berry are each carved by hand, using chip carving techniques. Each spindle has been smoothed and tested for balance.
Each spindle weighs approximately 17 grams. Tahkli spindles are intended to be used with a support bowl or cup, which can be purchased separately.
