Nålbinding Workshop

3hAbout this experience
Learn the ancient art of nålbinding! This fiber art predates both knitting and crochet, and is sometimes called "Viking knitting." In this class, you will learn a basic nålbinding stitch and make a set of handwarmers. You will need a nålbinding needle, and a skein of yarn that is anywhere from worsted to bulky -- the new Leviathan bulky yarn is especially well-suited to this class. 100% wool is best; make sure it is not super-wash, as this will make your yarn difficult to splice.
- 1 nålbinding needle
- 1 skein yarn (weight: worsted, aran, or bulky)
Your Host

Joi Weaver has been doing fiber arts since she was old enough to hold a needle. She loves learning new crafts, especially unusual pre-modern ones like nålbinding and sprang. She can often be found on the back roads of Bellingham, foraging for dye and fiber plants.
