Schacht’s Standard Floor Loom comes in low castle and high castle versions, each available with 36″ and 45″ weaving widths. Both looms take up identical floor space and function the same. The lower profile of the Low Castle loom appears visually smaller, while the High Castle loom includes a storage tray and holes drilled in the top of the castle uprights for an extension lamp.
All Standard Floor Looms may be ordered with either eight shafts or "4 Now-4 Later" shafts. The number of shafts you choose will depend on the kind of weaving you intend to do. Though most weave structures can be woven on 4 shafts, additional shafts increase your pattern options extensively.
The "4 Now-4 Later" model comes with four shafts installed and space for four more, allowing you to expand from four shafts to eight shafts at any time with a kit. "4 Now-4 Later" looms are shipped with all the heddles, tie-ups, and other items normally included with an eight harness loom.
The Standard Floor Loom has an underslung jack mechanism to raise the shafts. The jacks pivot from two points equidistant from the center and lift the shafts by pushing up on the center point. A parallel lamm system gives the looms a light treadling action without any adjustment of tie-up cords.
("High Castle" version is shown with optional Double Back Beam.)
Schacht Standard Floor Loom features:
- Quick & easy tie-up system
- Friction-reducing aluminum shaft channels
- Folding back beam
- Removable back and breast beams
- Adjustable open-sided beater
- Braking system with a ratchet and dog on the cloth beam and a friction brake on the warp beam for precise tension control
