Beginner Willow Basketry - Weave a Flower

About this experience

In this class students will learn the weave, called twining or pairing, that creates a base for traditional European stake and strand basketry. We will make decorative flowers from locally sourced material. Weaving willow requires a lot of hand strength and is not recommended for anyone with weak hands. Information will also be provided about growing and harvesting willow as well as curing and soaking it. Materials will be provided.
