About this experience

In this class, we will learn how to make cordage from several local plants like grass, corn, and rhubarb. We will then incorporate them into a seagrass basket (materials provided as part of class).

This is a two-part class. The first class session will be a tutorial on making cordage from corn husks, with demos of other materials. Students are encouraged to experiment with making different types of cordage between the two class sessions. The second session will be dedicated to weaving a seagrass basket that incorporates our handmade cordage.
